First off, let me thank you Dave for all of you help. I actually just
finished this original reply a moment ago, but when I hit submit, it didnt
work. At any rate, I realize some of my previous posts were a little vague,
so I will begin by giving a little more detail of the situation here.
When I previously said we "inheirited" a company, that wasn't entirely
accurate, so here is a more accurate description. There was a medical office
in the exact office we are currently located in. One of my co-owners was
also a co-owner of the previous business. When the old company closed, we
moved out everything (computers ,furniture, staff -except me). The only
thing that we kept was the server and 1 client pc, and network hardware.
That is the reason I deleted all of the users and client PC's. As far as
email goes, the new company uses (at least for now...) the email accounts
that comewith our website. Our company is so small we don't have an urgent
need for exchange email, although I may do it down the line. I emphasize the
word MAY. I believe that information may help some of the confusion I have
created about this.
As far as renaming things goes, the only thing I have even attempted to
rename is the name of the company that shows up when you log in to RWW. That
was simple. Basically, we want no remnants ofthe old company on this server,
and I was hoping I could maybe run some wizards, or just edit some registry
filesor something to get rid of (change)things like the domain name which
contains the old company name.
as far as remote access goes, thats always been a problem. I worked for the
previous company right at their end. Before me,they were paying a third part
to "manage"-and I use that term loosely-the server. Im pretty sure I know
more than him, andthats not saying much. At any rate, the remote access never
worked correctly, to my knowledge. I did a few things(I dont remember what
anymore), and got it up and running. However, I never used the RWW. I used
the RDC and typed the address in as: mx.oldcompanyswebsite.com
I dont know if it makes a difference (probably does), but the
oldcompanywebsite.com also was an http site, not just mx, if that makes
sense. http://www.oldcompanyswebsite.com was the actual website people would
visit for info, etc.
https://mx.oldcompanyswebsite.com/exchangewas the outlook web access, and
appearantly /remote was the RWW, which I never used until recently. At
any rate, the remote access from home eventually failed again, and I can't
get it up and running. When I use RDC, it just says it cant connec, contact
network admin or computer owner. I can access any computer here with its
local IP, but can do nothing from home. In the past, when I used rdc to
mx.oldcompanysname.com, it would connect me to the one clientPC that we did
keep. When I try to use my web browser to connect via RWW, I can log in, but
when I try to choosewhich computer I want to "remote control", the error it
gives is below. I dont know if RWW ever worked, because I never used it,
but here is the error:
I changed the web address, as well as server name and login name to****, as
I dont feel the actual name is necessary

I appologize for the length of the post, but believe it provides much more
detail. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
ps-I believe I will reset the firewall to factory default and reconfigure it
as well. I never had to do that in the past though, and the remote access
stopped working even before I removed/changed anything on the server.
