As others have said... providers such as Verizon, AT&T and Sprint perform some type of email over HTTPS but I have not come across a solution for a complete sync of all email folders, calendar and contacts with that solution. You would need the BPS IMHO.
That's pretty much it, unless using BES, which is a whole different ballgame.
