Hi Chris
It is Trend WFB 5.1
I havent called them as I dont think that the Internet issue is
related (I may be wrong!)
The Trend firewall is not installed on any machine incidentally.
The biggest issue is the Intermittent Internet issue. After some more
digging, there is a lot of indication that the SRV errr can be caused
by a faulty NIC on a client machine so I will go round and check all
of these tomorrow.
There are some well documented incidents that there have been issues
with the HP NC373i has caused speed issues, but we are not seeing this
problem and the network appears to be working fine in general the NIC
has the latest firmware and driver too. My first inclination was that
it was related to poor DNS lookups, but I dont have any time-outs
The only indication that there may be a problem could be that when I
do an NS LOOKUP I get the following;
nslookup
Default Server: UnKnown
Address: fe80::8c59:7f00:8179:c497
so it appears that it defaults to the IPv6 address of the NIC instead
of the IPv4 address.
I did try removing the IPv6 tick from the server properties 'listen
on' in DNS (not from the NIC itself) but DNS stopped working
completely.
inciemtally the NIC has 2 x IPv6 addresses is this normal??
Thanks
.
