One thing to really watch out for is windows does not like changing boot controllers.
You would be well advised to get the OS running on the Adaptec card, and then port this over to the new mobo.
My bet is the new mobo has different boot controller driver and things could get ugly.
In the good old days.. IDE to IDE swap used to work fine, but now lots of IDE mobo controllers need funny drivers.
please please don't use the mobo RAID.. I have had so much grief with mobo raids that it doesn't bear thinking about.
