Re: Cannot connect to workstations using RWW SBS 2008

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

To troubleshoot connectivity in your LAN:

Do you have any Firewall enabled on client machine ?
If yes add exception for RDP connection.

Have you tried to connect by ip or by machine name?
If by machine name, check name resolution (nslookup from command line)
before that try to connect by IP to client computer

Do you have RDP enabled on client machine?
To check right click My Computer and select Properties on Remote tab, check
approperiate checkbox

With kind regards

I can connect to server using RWW and admin rights but cannot connect
to any workstations with admin rights or user. The workstations have
"Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" checked.

When I try to connect it states:

VBScript:Remote Desktop Disconnected
The remote connection has timed out. Please try connecting to the
remote computer again.

When I go to that particular workstation I was trying to connect to,
it is locked up and requires a reboot.

Here is my info:

Windows Server Standard FE SP2
Small Business Server 2008
Dell Server PE1900, 64 bit OS, 8G ram, 2 Xeon Processors

LinkSys Security Router
Port Forwarding 25, 4125, 3389, 443, 987, 389, 1723

Can you use RDP to connect directly to the workstations from within the LAN?
