Re: Consitency check exchange failure in Small Business server 200

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Brett:

Sorry for the confusion, the "steps" are just artificial placeholders for a
possible list. The original error, that of "inconsistency" and the event
log errors are very different, and that is why I wanted to see them and what
you had already tried.

What I expected you to find were references to the inconsistency, instead we
see references to the backup process itself.

Next question, have you run the exchange utilities to verify that the
database is, in fact, not inconsistent?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327156

Have you seen this in your event logs?

Event ID 565 - Consistency check for component StorageGroup-GUID\'Microsoft
Exchange Server\Microsoft Information Store\SERVER' failed. Application
'Exchange' will not be avaliable in the backup done at time 'date time'

if so, look here for a little help:

http://www.c7solutions.com/blog/2009/01/sbs-and-webs-2008-backup-fails-to.aspx

Sorry to say that I am getting ready to leave on holiday and don't have more
time to research this, but with a little imagination and a lot of Internet
searching, and help from others here, you will get this resolved.

Hi Larry

Here is the event log. does it for the first storage group and then the

then
it may take several minutes for the system to detect the aborted backup
and
initiate backup cleanup procedures, so this message may be generated if an
attempt was made to backup a storage group before a previous backup

had fully terminated.)

Hi Brett:

Have to ask.... what steps have you taken to overcome this? Did you
search
the Internet or this group for other reports of the same error? Hard to
suggest that you do step 2 or step 4 unless we know if you have already
eliminated step 1 and 3.

Hint: See my signature line, and there is also one for exchange. Also,
what is in your event logs that might pertain, and have you processed
those
at www.eventid.net?

Hi

I am recieving the below error after each nightly backup

"Application will not be available for recovery from this backup.
Consistency check failed for component Microsoft Exchange
Server\Microsoft
Information Store\SBServer\[insert GUID here]"

When I try and do a restore, the Exchange application is unavailable
for
restoring.

Any suggestions.

Brett
