Re: DL Problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I believe that alright... <g>
It's a pain since a rule will not work and we are stuck with one option only. And that is REMEMBER to add the DL itself as a recipient EVERYTIME a mai goes out that way... Oh well... not much I can do I guess...

Thanks Larry !

No, but I am funny that way. I think the mail should go to the parties to whom it is addressed. I am usually surprised that things work somewhat differently than what I anticipate, but if you can believe the special I watched (part of) on public TV yesterday, that is part of increasing our brain's "plasticity", whatever that is. <g>

Larry,

If I add the DL itself to the recipeients, then it sends it to the DL Folder as well. Or if I create a rule where I use the From: (DL E-mail) I believe it will also placed there accordingly. BUT, I imagine it should go there automatically since I'm using the From: DL E-mail ... Wouldn't you think so?

When sending mail as a member of the DL, where does the mail go? I am guessing it goes to the person it is sent to, and to the sent mail folder for the person sending it.

What happens if the DL is included as a target recipient of the mail, that is,

jsmith; distribution list

are included as targets for the mail?

No,

I'm saying that if user 1 (member of the DL) sends an e-mail using From: DL E-mail to an outside or inside contact, this e-mail is not placed on the DL Folder. Mails received for this DL is correctly placed on the DL Folder.

I'm talking about the standard folder created by exchange when I used the wizard. Yes DL (Distribution List), yes there are 5 members that belong to this group. Yes there is an e-mail associated with this DL. Yes it show up in the GAL.

Ok, maybe I'm at a loss understanding what you are saying with the following original statement:

"Messages sent as dl member do not go (copy) to DL Folder on Exchange."

Do you mean that when an email is sent to the DL by someone else in the company, are not being received by the users that belong to the DL group?
