Are you talking about users installing software on the server or on
workstations?

Yes I know what you are saying and it's a complicated company
structure to explain, however ...............
I have a user who needs to have full access to everything, however
the user currently:
Isn't able to install software
Isn't able to enable / disable / repair network connections
Is showing as being a member of the administrators group on the
server
Please can someone help?

Well you clearly do NOT want that. Being a servers administrator is not
what is needed. Being a member of the workstations local administrators
group is what you want (at most) NOT the servers (AD) administrators
group!!!
Many thanks,,
Dave

Will this also solve the problem where the user isn't able to
'Repair' a Network Connection or disable and enable a Network
Connection as those funtions are greyed out?
Effectively this gives the user all capabiliites to the workstation
- both good and bad. A stable workstation shouldn't require the user
to excert local administrator priviledges, but perhaps there's more
to your setup than we know.

Add the user unable to install software to the *workstation* local
administrators group. Sounds like the user wasn't properly
confirured (added) durring the workstation setup.

Hi guys,
I'm currently using SBS 2003, and have created 2 users within my
organisational unit in Active Directory that both share the same
machine.
As far as I am aware I set the users up in exactly the same way,
however one user can install software and the other can't and I
require both users to be able to do this.
The user that can't install software, is also unable to do even
things like disable the network adapter or repair the network
connection as those functions are greyed out.
I have checked in Active Directoy the properties for each user and
can see that both users are members of the same groups which are:
Administrators
Domain Users
Remote Web Workplace Users
(domain name)
Maybe I've missed something when setting the other user up or done
something wrong?
Why is this happening and how can I fix the problem so that the
other user can install software and have no restrictions just like
the other user does?
Many thanks in advance,
Dave
