Re: SBS Client Remote Issue

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

It's not a 4125 issue because I can get in from another other computer
remotely. I don't know what I can check on the client firewall.

The ActiveX prompt happens only the 1st time (as I would expect). I have
even shut down IE/restarted the process again (this time NOT getting the
ActiveX prompt) but just straight to the message box about the "VBScript:
The Remote Desktop Disconnected"

SBS 2003 R2
Window XP Pro client sitting at remote site

Problem: XP client can connect to \remote and log in to the SBS.
Then they can go to "connect to client computer" and try to connect
to a workstation in the SBS office. They are then prompted to
download the ActiveX control. BUT instead of starting the connection
to the client workstation I get a connection error stating
"VBScript: Remote Desktop Disconnected... The client could not
establish a connection to the remote computer. The most likely
causes are..." What I've done to fix:
1. This is IE8 so I go into Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and
"Reset" 2. I then go to Tools/Internet
Options/Security/Internet/Custom Level and "Enable" the "Allow
previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt"

This usually fixes the problem anytime a client cannot connect. This
client cannot connect to any remote network and I have
verified that the SBS office is not the problem (or a router/port
forward) because
I can get into the network from another computer outside the
office. It's definetly this XP Pro computer.

As an added piece from this XP computer I open up Accessories/Remote
Desktop Connection (3389 port) and it DOES connect directly to the
server. It's the 4425 RDP connection that is not working.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Does it work for IE7 and IE6 users on different computers?

Client firewall & 4125 maybe. To clarify your info, does the XP client get
prompted to download the activex each attempt or just the once (first)?
