RE: Reset User Password SBS 2003

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Miles, Yes you have understood the problem correctly. Thanks for your
explanation, that seems to make sense.

1. I agree that I must change the password on the SBS server side I just
can't find the right place to change this.

2. I don't think the Exchange OWA method will work, although we are running
Outlook it is not using Microsoft exchange server, but MDaemon exchange
server .

thanks

Hello,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that:

You want to know whether you can change the password when access the shared
folders from a Windows XP Home Edition.

If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Explanations:
===============
Please understand that when you access a shared folder with domain username
and password the change password dialog will not be prompted even when you
select the option "user must change the password at next logon". This
change password dialog will only show when you log onto interactively. It
is by design in the Windows OS.

To change the password for those user accounts:

1. As Cris mentioned, you may reset the password on these user accounts on
the SBS server side.

2. If you want those users to change their password by themselves, you may
let them log onto a domain joined computer to change their password. Or you
can guide your users to log into the Exchange OWA that with change password
feature enabled.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me
know.
