Thanks for your post. I am not sure I follow. Our original Drive c
was 140 Gb, the entire spindle. We did add an E later, 300 GB.
Most of the user data is there except for the SQL which is on C.
We now have a 300 Gb C: off to the side (the one I have posted
about). I wish to run live on it and pull out the 140, which is in now.
The Windows restore and service packs, etc. are all down
and the drive is bootable. The restore that created it was done in
January. Our first attempt to login to the domain on it was late March
or April. Now, I have no concerns about the integrity of the new C. I am
not sure if you are bringing a separate concern about what I did to
my attention or if you feel that is part of my login issue. Please clarify.

How big is your C partition. Most of them can be managed until you upgrade
your OS, but it does take some ongoing management. I should point out that
any "reasonable" sized system partition will fill up if you leave user data
on it.

If you wish to resize the system partition because there is additional room
on the D partition on the same spindle(s) that is one thing. If you wish to
replace the drive with another because the entire drive0 is used up, that is
something else.

However, the steps to doing either are similar. Backup, install CD1 from
the original set, install the same Windows Server Service Pack, restore from
a recent and tested backup. No third party software required.

the C partition. If interested, and can't find it, post back.

A little over a month ago I used a third party (Symantec)
backup recovery to restore my Windows 2003 SBS
Premium server to a bigger C: drive as we were
running out of space. For the most part it was
a success except for some of my SQL databases.
I had to abort the process due to
downtime and return my original drive. Last week, after
having my act together on how to properly stop and backup
my SQL stuff I did another backup, flipped my drive and
recovered the SQL and all was fine......I thought. When I
attempted XP client login to the Domain they can't connect
even though all the computer and login information
seems to be there correctly. I suspect that the security
channel credentials for the computer accounts changed
during the duration of time from the restored image on
the new drive that was out of the system to what is now
on the clients and this is the
issue. What is the best way to correct this? I have 12 clients.
In the past, when I disjoin and rejoin a client to the Domain
I sign in ok but have a new blank desktop and have to either
copy all my files to the new Domain user in Doc and Settings
and I have to manually setup mail, then import or use the
File and Settings Transfer wizard which is a huge time vacuum.
IT IS UGLY. Is there an easier way do to this..............
Please help as I am in desperate need to add that disk space.
