the process you probably wish to use is P(i)TA, Pass Through Authentication.
If you wish to do this in order to minimise your CAL count you're dreaming.
Meanwhile, in what manner is it failing?

I have just done a new install of SBS2008 and want to setup a few computers
to access it without them been part of the domain. However browsing from a
workstation (xp or vista) only results in "cannot access server".
I can ping the server and run "http://connect" , but i cannot connect to the
server with windows explorer (\\servername or \\server-ip).
Any suggestions where i have gone wrong?
Thanks in advance.
