Re: Office Comms Server with SBS 2008 STD/Prem

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Just to confirm:

Server 1: Need SBS 08 Prem 32bit main server
Server 2: Then 2008 64bit for OCS 07 R2
Server 3: Then 2008 32bit for OCS 07 R2 Edge Server?

Question: Would it be possible to use 64bit SBS and run OCS on the SBS
server or does it have to be another box?

The client may be small in staff, but is very high in revenue.

Hmm, if the number of people involved is so small, would it be more
effective
to use Office Live Meeting - the hosted solution?

OCS would also provide IM & Presence, the hosted version isn't out yet
but there'll be one.

If insisting on OCS, you'll need 2 additional server hardware for them,
besides
SBS, plus licenses and CALs so costs will quickly add up.

Hi All,

Have a situation coming up where we need to replace a SBS2003 Std server,
ideally with a 2008 SBS Std Server. However, the client wants to use
Office
Communications Server 2007 in house and externally, which by all accounts
requires OCS and Edge.

The company is small in size, but large in turn over, with 4-6 users, but
they want to invite 2-3 external (non ad/company aka guests) people in to
meetings they have to discuss products e.t.c. The meetings will use
voice/presentations/audio.

Q1. The edge server has to be seperate (for external people) can this be
run
on an additional server added to SBS 2008?
Q2. Will the SBS server be best as 32bit or 64bit?
Q3. Will the edge server be best as 32bit or 64bit?

Can you forsee any additional planning in hardware/software with this
designed implementation?
