Anyone experience downtime after auto updates this morning?

I noticed two of my customers servers were down this AM after the updates
with the following KB articles were automatically applied to my 2003 SBS
servers:
KB961063
KB958690
KB960225
KB961064
The problem is that the NIC would not communicate beyond itself (loopback).
So the server could not see the network and the network could not ping or see
the server.
So I figured out that by shutting down the WINS service and moving it to
manual, that everything came up again after a server restart.
Then after the restart I was able to restart WINS and change back to
automatic.
Strange stuff.
I saw this on HP ML 350 G5 hardware and on Dell Precision 390 hardware (two
different hardware platforms). Both after auto updates of the above KBB
security patches.
Please advise if there is a known issue with these patches or the order in
which they must be installed as last night did not go so well.
Thanks,
Richard
