Hi Marina,

I asked Sophos Support about this and they insisted that I couldn't use the
Enterprise Console with my version (Security Suite SBE 2.5). I'm not
impressed that their otherwise great product isn't SBS 2008 ready.

Got Sophos SBE upgraded to a three year deal in May, upgraded to SBS
2008 in November, and it looks like Sophos won't support it until at
least August this year. I won't be buying antivirus in 3 year license
blocks again :(

Colin (and Andrew) -

You need to contact your Sophos Account Rep about this. Support will not
be able to help you, but your account rep may be able to get you a
license key for the Enterprise product that you can install on the SBS
2008 server until the updated version comes out later in the year. I've
been beating up my account rep about this for a little over a year now,
and it took a while but finally got them to agree to allow us to use the
Enterprise product at the SBE price. If you've only worked with SBE and
not with the Enterprise product, there may be a bit of a learning curve
when dealing with the server console, but that's probably worth the
effort since they're supposed to move to a unified console for both
platforms in the next version, and it will probably be based more on the
Enterprise console than the SBE console. but that's just a guess.

Thanks - I may try this at some point. Actually at my real job I
manage around 200 workstations with EmLibrary/Enterprise Console and
it is very easy to use.

The issue I have is I purchased the software from a box shifter who
sells lots of other products, not from a specific reseller. That is
what buying cheap gives you :). At the moment I have the software
running on everything but the server (I have an AV/AS email appliance
in the DMZ), and the software is updating direct from Sophos.

Andrew.
