Could you please post the results of an ipconfig /all for the server and
for a workstation?

Hi Merv, I tried your suggestion to remove the share and then navigate to
the
file via the application open dialog; same result...long, long hang time
but
will eventually get to a point where a file open dialog pops up and
states:
"There is a file sharing conflict. The file cannot be accessed as
requested"
I also noticed the following two events in the client application log:
Warning 8021: The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from
the
browser master \\ACG-SERVER on the network
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{43D1094B-97F6-4452-9FED-499CD85849FB}. The data is
the
error code.
Error 8032: The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too
many times on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{43D1094B-97F6-4452-9FED-499CD85849FB}. The backup
browser is stopping.
Hopefully, this above can provide a good clue.

I don't see this as a permissions problem.
Something to try John... Make sure your antivirus software isn't scanning
'network' files or folders.
If you remove the share mapping from the client workstation, can you
browse
to the network share and open the file normally?

Hi, I have one XP/Pro machine presently connected to SBS2003. On the
server,
I setup a folder (with several subfolders). Then, using the shared
folder
access wizard, I set top-level folder (d:/acg_data) to share with
Everyone;
on the Security tab, Users are permitted full control.
On my client PC, I have mapped the shared folder and can see all the
contents via Explorer. Problem is, whenever, I try to open a file in an
application or double-click, it strangles my client (task bar will
disappear). Eventually, I'm able to kill-off the application and all
appears
normal.
If I want to create a shared folder (with several subfolders) for users
with
Rd/Wr/Exe access can someone provide some procedural guidance? Is the
above
problem on the client symmtomatic of a permissions problem? Thanks.
