I don't know much about OEM software, but if they're the vendor, and they're telling you that, then why would you not believe it? It's certainly true for retail copies and VL copies.

Thanks for response.
So I can use the same product key? WS 2008 is OEM from Dell.
And yes, that is right that if I use SBS 2008, I dont need additional license, but we got SBS 2k3 for some time and now I got new HW with very cheap OEM.
"Charlie Russel - MVP" <charlie@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:Oz$ibqtjJHA.5588@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxYour vendor is correct, IF you use the WS2008 Standard license on the physical computer only for running the Hyper-V role. If you add additional roles, you lose the right to install a virtual version. (You can add additional features, such as backup and PowerShell, that are used for management and administration of the virtual machines on the server. )
BTW, if you were to move to SBS 2008 Premium, you'd have all that in a single purchase. Well, it would be SBS 2008, not SBS 2003. But SBS 2008 Premium includes a Windows Server 2008 Standard license. Along with SQL Standard.

"Petr Jankovsky" <stuhyk@xxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:OSbxYktjJHA.5724@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHi,
I would like to have this setup:
WS2008 Standard with HyperV
in it,
virtualized SBS 2k3 Standard
virtualized Windows Server 2008 Standard
How many licences I need for this setup? My MS vendor told me that I need only 1x WS 2008 Standard licence and 1x SBS 2k3 license, because I get one more license for WS 2008 if I use only HyperV function in host system, but I cant find this information on any site. Anyone know if it is true?
Thanks,
Petr Jankovsky
