You can also try to make sure you have the latest driver for your network adapter. I had a big performance boost by updating the driver.

Hi,

I have several XP Pro clients on my network with a SBS 2003 server. I've
installed a new machine running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and it started working
out OK. However, many times when I try to browse to shares on the server, it
times out. However, when I do this at the same time on an XP box, it works
great!

I've tried researching this and disabled auto-tuning on the Vista box, but
that doesn't seem to resolve the issue. This is the command I've run:

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

What's the best way to test for slow access with Vista to SBS 2003? Does
upgrading to SBS 2008 resolve this?
