Can I use the OLD box for Terminal - now licensing question
rather thanbuya Windows 2003 StdServerlicense is it possible to
reformat OLD SBSServer- CD 1 is just basic Windows 2003Serverand
install the TS licenses??

Nope, you'll need tobuya license for W2003 (or whatever version of Windows
you want to use). For the TS box go for 2008 - it's got a lot more features.

Also, don't use your TS box as a fileserver, or vice versa. Your TS box
should do nothing but serve TS sessions. Get a smaller box for that
purpose - it doesn't have to have a lot of fancyhardware. Get a separate
fileserveror add external storage (e.g., RAID enclosure) to your existing
box if you have one, or spec out much larger disks for your new SBS box.
Also, why 2003 and not SBS2008?

Hi Simon,

The second poster is correct about not being able to do the system
format.
In regards to the server you were looking to purchase with a large
RAID 5 set-up, to be used as a terminal
server. I can provide you with some information and guidance on this.
I work for IBM and was just reading your post and thought
I would leave you with some information and my contact info in case
you had some questions.

IBM X-Series servers are excellent at being used for this purpose.
They are very powerful, have a lot of ram capacity, and they also
can hold over !TB of storage capacity. I would look into the X3650 or
X3450 for this it should be more than capable to meet your needs.

It is hard to tell exactly what you would need, because I didn't see
anything posted about users and how much this server will be accessed.
I can probably give you some more detailed information if you
elaborated on the project a bit more,

Here is the info on the IBM X3650 and X3450:

If you have any questions or want to discuss in more detail to get a
clearer picture about the direction you can go feel free to
email me @ sversa@xxxxxxxxxx

Cheers!
