Reconfiguring routing for different subnets

Hello all. I'm struggling with a performance/connectivity issue seen
by the clients in our SBS 03 network. It began when we switched from
DSL to cable and had to change a bunch of IP settings. Unfortunately
no matter how much I study IP, subnets, routing, whatever it just
won't sink in.
The symptom is that clients are getting very long times to connect to
some websites. It can take a few tries to get a webpage to load.
Throughput and QoS are normal. It seems to be the initial connection
only.
About 2 years ago I successfully borrowed a set of IP settings to make
our SBS 2003 R2 setup work. Listed from internal->internet, our
structure is this:
(clients)
switch
SBS 2003 R2 w/ dual nic
Internet router/modem
We recently switched from DSL to Comcast cable. With DSL the modem
was set up in bridging mode and passed through to the server.
(Technically there was another router between the server and modem for
firewall functionality and it held the static IP, but I removed it
temporarily to try and resolve this). The internal and external side
of the server were both on 192.168.x.x.
Comcast does not offer bridging mode with their 8014 modem and they
require the modem side to be 10.1.x.x subnet. I reconfigured things
accordingly, and surfing from the SBS is 100% normal.
I'm told that I might need to reconfigure RRAS to route between the
new subnets but I don't know how to do that. If that is worth doing I
humbly request some guidance on it.
Also, suggestions for how to set up around a Comcast Business modem
would help. Would it help to set up the internal side on 10.1.x.x
also?
I can post our IP configuration if that would help.
Thanks,
David
