sbs 2003 hangs in the middle of the night.

sbs 2003 server or servers appear to hang in the middle of the night at the
same time. backup exec 12 is running a few hours before and will fail of
course when the server becoems non responsive. nothing in the logs
indicating why except last recorded event is logical disk manager entered the
stopped state everytime. only a hard reboot will bring the server back and is
fine after that. i have reviewed that ipsec services going into block mode
after windows updates in July 2008 can be a cause and have seen this on
several sites but the console can be logged in in these cases. when the
above happens the server is hung. symantec av 10 corp is installed on the
server.
