I do not think the Adaptec card will allow this. It is not a RAID card, only
a SCSI controller. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You'll need to refer to the adaptec manual for that one. The last Adaptec I.
used allowed you to build a mirror, so in theory, here is what I'd do:
1) Install a second hard drive.
2) In the Adaptec BIOS (before OS boot) configure the mirror.
3) Let the adapter actually build the RAID array. It'll take some time.
4) Pull the failing hard drive (breaking the mirror.)
5) Install another new hard drive.
6) Again in the Adaptec setup, have it rebuild the mirror. It'll know to
use the second hard drive since that already has the RAID info that would've
been written from the first build.
Should be painless. But different models of RAID controllers have different
feature sets and the system may fail to build an array after the fact
without wiping data. So have a backup, and take each step carefully.

I have a client that is running SBS 2K3 standard. When it was first set
up,
they did not want to go to the expense of mirroring the OS drive. (I tried
to
warn them!!!) Now, there are several bad sectors on the OS drive. I was
fortunately able to recover, but I would like to get it set up the way it
should be. Is there a way to install 2 new SCSI drives on the system,
mirror
them and then copy the existing C drive to them and then use them as the
boot
drives? They have an Adaptec Ultra 320 SCSI adapter, if that makes any
difference.
