Hi,
Thanks for your post and the wonderful suggestions.
Have you tried the buit-in function "Health Monitor" in SBS 2003 server ? I
just did a small similar test and it seems work fine to monitor user's
Remote Desktop, but I am not sure if it meet your requirement.
1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Health
Monitor.
2. Right click Actions and select Email Action, type the Exchange server
and the Recipient for the Email settings.
3. Right click on the SBS server and new a DataGroup,
4. Right click on the DataGroup and new a Data Collector -> Windows Event
log Monitor, then define the Event ID you want to monitor;
5. I as far as I know, if a remote user logon failed, there is an Event 529
security failue log in the Security log of your Event Reiewer.
In short, if the remote user fails to log on to any domain computer, there
will be an Event 529 log generated on the SBS server's Event Security log
and then the Health Monitor console will triger an "Action" to send out a
related email to a predefined recipient. The detailed logon failure
information will be recorded within the email body, e.g. the remote user's
IP and destinatino computer's name.
