Re: SBS 2008 / Win 2008 Server / SQL 2005 Licensing Question

To answer your question
You need 10 cals for SBS Standard
You're SBS cals will cover file access to the Windows Standard Server
You'll need an additonal Windows Standard Server license
You need 10 TS Cals (if everyone is needs TS Access)
You'll need 10 SQL Cals (or however many are going to access SQL

Would have been cheaper to by SBS 2008 Premium
You'd get teh second windows server license included
SQL Server is included
You'd have had to buy 5 extra cals for SBS (comes with 5)
You'd have to buy TS cals for how ever many TS users
SBS 2008 intrudes standard and premium cals to cover the SQL access
You only have to buy premium cals for those who access the SQL server

Looking for some licensing advise on a server solution i'm putting together
for a client.

The Situation:
1 Windows Small Business Server 2008 Standard (Domain Controller)
1 Windows 2008 Standard Server (Domain Member) running SQL 2005 Standard &
Terminal Server
10 Users

The Question:
I know I need 10 CAL's for the SBS2008 but do I also need 10 CAL's for the
Win 2008 Terminal Server and 10 CAL's for the SQL 2005 Standard application
that will run on the Win 2008 Terminal Server?

thanks,

.
