Re: Could not create the folder "Z:\My Documents"

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hello again,

I ran "GPresult /v >>gpresult.txt" as suggested but after four hours it did not complete.

However, the user accounts started off as XP accounts, so when I replaced the PC's with Vista machines I redirected the My Documents folder to point to the appropriate directory in the original Users Shared Folder.

The folders store the usual stuff - music, photos, Word documents, etc.

As far as what an application is installing to the Z: drive, I can't really say - the problem occurs with every application. For example, Acrobat Reader will fail with a 'Could not create the folder' error.

This seems to be the only symptom. If I install the application having logged on as a local user all is well and I can subsequently log on to the domain and the application will work perfectly.

I should add the the user accounts are both domain and local administrators.

Hello Waggers,

Thanks for the update.

I'd like to know what folders and files are stored in the Z:\My Documents.
Do you redirect the My Document folder to the Z:\ for domain users? What
files are written to the Z:\My Documents when you install the software on
the computer?

If you are not clear about it, you can collect the "GPresult /v
gpresult.txt" on the Windows Vista client computer and send to me at
v-mileli@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope it helps. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not
hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,
Miles Li
