Hi George,
Glad to hear from you and know the information was helpful.
Outlook 2003 clients would fail to connect to Exchange 2003 using RPC over
HTTPS if there is a problem with the certificate assigned to the
destination website. When you connect to an Outlook Web Access website if
there is a problem with the certificate you will receive a pop up box
informing you of what the problem is. With RPC over HTTPS no such pop up
box appears and the connection to the Exchange server fails. Therefore, as
you have done, we can use the OWA site to install the certificate or we can
also install the root certificate directly on the client, this should also
resolve this issue.
Considering the issue had been resolved, to help other people from our
experience, I would like to make a summary here. If you have any further
concerns with this issue, feel free to let me know.
Problem Description:
===================
Outlook 2003 clients fail to connect to Exchange 2003 using RPC over HTTPS.
Cause:
===================
No RPC remote certificate or Root CA certificate on the client.
Resolution:
===================
Install the certificate from the OWA website.
