Do you have an old non-RoHS TruFax 200? If so, have you installed this patch
http://www.cantata.com/support/productinfo.cfm?frmProduct=Shared%20Fax&frmCategory=Download&frmKnowBaseID=2210&Level=2 ?
Read the long "Received fax errors after running SFC.exe" thread. I believe
Nick had a similar problem and finally fixed it. I do not remember the fix.

Thanks, Gregg & Andrew
The Fax has been working fine since 2005 so all Service pack and windows
updates
even SP2 have not been an issue.
Brooktrout has a Diag utility that I used to send and receive faxes on
each of the two
ports on the Brooktrout board it also creates a log file. The log shows 10
successful
tests 5-Sending and 5-Receiving to and from another fax machine on a
separate
phone number in our office. Brooktrout also does not provide downloadable
drivers the driver
is provided by the software vendor. Microsoft in this case because it uses
the Microsoft
Shared Fax feature in Windows 2003 SBS. This is the latest Driver Ver.
4.3.2.88
Dated: 9/11/2006. The Diagnostic tool has confirmed that the driver is
running correctly.
My problem now is that I cannot get the Fax Service componant to reinstall
on the server
after having tried the procedure below from Robbin Meng (MSFT) the Fax
Service Componant
fails to load. When I go back into Windows Componants the Fax Services box
is unchecked.
I have tried to load it several times and it always fails.
I have collected copies of the following log files and they have error and
failures in them
after trying a couple of times to do a reinstallation. they may give an
indication of what
is going on. Can anyone take a look at these logs and see what is going
on?
let me know what email address to send them to they total 11.4MB
Errorlog.txt
Eventlog.txt
FaxSetup.log
InboxLOG.txt
SBSMSI-Licensing.LOG
Setup.log
Step 1: Check the Security permission of the FAX components.
On the SBS server Management Console, open right click on Fax(local) and
select Properties, on the Security tab, make sure "Everyone" group has the
Fax permission and Administrator has Full Control permission. Then restart
FAX service to test.
Step 2: COMPLETELY reinstall fax component on SBS server manually if step
1
didn't work.
A. Rename the keys and files below to *.old
1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax
2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Fax
3) C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\fax
4) The ''SBSMIS-FAX.log'' file under ''C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs''.
5) The ''SBSMSI-faxcfg.log'' file under ''C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs''.
6) The ''faxsetup.log'' file under ''C:\WINDOWS\''.
B. Delete the following registry keys:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Telephony/Country List
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Telephony/Locations
registry
Keys
C. Access Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck
''Fax
Services'' to uninstall it.
D. Once it is uninstalled, access Add/Remove Programs to reinstall it.
E. Then, access ''Add/Remove Programs again'', this time, we will click
''Change/Remove'' on the ''Windows Small Business Server 2003'' item:
1) Click ''Next'' on the ''Microsoft Windows Small Business Server Setup''
page.
2) Click ''Next'' on the ''Windows Configuration'' page.
Note: It states that ''This will take approximately 30 minutes'', it is
referring to the total time it will take in the first SBS component
installation. For the task such as remove a specific component, it will
just take couple of minutes.
3) Now, in the ''Component Selection'' page, choose ''Remove' before the
''Fax Services'' item.
4) Click ''Next'', and then click ''Next'' again to confirm ''Component
Summary''. You will be prompted to insert the SBS setup Disc 1. and then
follow the guide the finish the reinstallation.
F. Once the removal process is completed, access ''Windows Small Business
Server setup'' again in ''Add/Remove Programs'', proceed to the
''Component
Selection'' page, and then choose ''Install'' for the ''Fax Services''
item
to reinstall fax service.
Step 3: Reinstall the FAX modem with latest driver or replace the fax
modem
If the issue still continues, please first download and install the latest
modem driver. If it doesn't work, consider changing another working fax
modem to have a try.
Best regards,
Robbin Meng (MSFT)
