... ( not an Act sync user but ).... Are you sure the ACT sync is not asking
for the (apparent) IP address for the (target) laptop?
If the laptop is also behind a NAT gateway, then it also likely would need
to have port forwaring set up and should be on a different LAN IP net that
your SBS server (192.168.1.X)
food for thought... lunch time for me don't you know.

I'd go to www.grc.com and go to the Shields Up page. Select the
option to probe a user-defined port and enter 65100.

We have a router with a static IP. We have a small business server
2008 standard on the swith with an IP of 192.168.1.60.
We are trying to get Sage ACT to sync with a remote laptop at home
using the
ACT sync capacility. The sync asks for the external IP which is the
routers
IP.
I had to open and forward port 65100 to the server IP of
192.168.1.60. It is just not syncing for some reason. Is there a way for
me to
tell if this port is actually open and if I did, would I do it from
the server using
telnet routerIP 65100 or telnet 192.168.1.60 65100?
Remember he is trying to sync off the network at his some. He syncs
fine at
the office on the network.
