Not sure what you mean by "in the cloud", but I have the "advanced" service level selected for Antispam - ERS (email reputation service) .

I think that's at least equivalent to using connection filtering with a lookup to a third party like spamhaus, for example. I consistently see WFBS reporting about 70% of total email is detected as spam, which is on par with any good anit-spam solutions I've had in earlier versions. I find no flaws at all in the anti-spam capability, and I haven't modified the ERS settings.

My trend WFBS advanced, version 5.1 is working flawlessly on SBS 2008 with both vista and XP clients.
