Re: ping time out trouble , help

Hello,

Thank you for posting here. Also thanks for the input from Dave.

According to your description, I understand that:

From the client that connect to the SBS network through wireless
connection, Ping packets get lost discontinuously.

If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Suggestions:
==========================
Agree with Dave that you should first narrow down the issue to check
whether there is any device in the scope that interfere the wireless. You
may change the channel to 1, 6, or 11 to check whether the issue persists.

Moreover, please also check how it works if you PING with small MTU. To
check it out, I suggest you perform the following command:

Ping <SBS IP address> -f -t -l 1000

Try a smaller buffer size such as 1000 to identify the largest full packet
you could send (Ethernet has a maximum frame size of 1500B). After we get
the proper MTU for the intermediate network device, we could modify the
following registry value to specify the acceptable MTU size for clients.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interf
aces\<ID for Adapter>
Value Name: MTU
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value date: such as 1300 (decimal)

Information needed:
==========================
1. Will the issue also happen when you Ping the wireless router from
wireless clients?

2. On the wireless client, is there any wireless NIC management tool that
can show the NIC performance such as how many corrupt packets have been
received? If there is, what it says?
