Hi Charlie,
Thanks for that. Had a few problems. Verions was the Beta had to upgrade and also used John's blog info to properly set up the core server. Hyper-V management console is now working!
Now to the main task - installing SBS 2008,
Thanks,
Doug

What do you see in the right hand action pane of the Hyper-V Manager when you have the server selected?
There are two resources you'll need: My blog post on this: http://msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64/archive/2008/10/22/configuring-hyper-v-server-for-remote-management.aspx, and John Howard's series of blog posts on this. Originally, from back in March, starting with this one: http://blogs.technet.com/jhoward/archive/2008/03/28/part-1-hyper-v-remote-management-you-do-not-have-the-requested-permission-to-complete-this-task-contact-the-administrator-of-the-authorization-policy-for-the-computer-computername.aspx
and now with a new script that supposedly does it all. (haven't test out the new script yet...)

"Doog" <dgrady@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:ugYzpMxSJHA.5408@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHi,
Off topic I appreciate, but maybe someone can assist me. I'm attempting to install / migrate from SBS2003 to SBS 2008 and have installed Windows Server 2008 in Core mode but can't get any further.
The install of the Hyper-V role seems OK. Firewall reports that it is enable for Hyper-V. The Hyper-V services are running. I have then installed Hyper-V manager on Vista SP1 and it finds the server OK.
What I can't do is create a virtual disk. When I click on "Start Service" in RH pane nothing happens.?? (Very frustrating when I am trying to install SBS2008 on virtual machine.
I don't seem to have a menu selection called "New VM"??
Any suggestions appreciated,
Dooglas
