Re: MS Office 2007 Standard Licensing

Outlook is shipped with SBS 2003 as part of Exchange. No Cost.

There are other, comparable/compatible word processors and spreadsheets that are free.

Hi All,

This is probably off topic but I have a new client with SBS 2003 with 15 XP
Pro clients.I performed a site survey and discovered the previous tech had
used a bogus volume license to install Office 2003 on the client PC's.

I discussed getting him in complience but when I started researching MS
Office licensing it was like a maze!

He only needs Outlook,Word and Excel. Anyone recommend a legit MS reseller?
I was looking at the Open Licensing program. I contacted CDW and they quoted
$359.99 per user license. this is a little over his head financialy at the
moment.

If CDW said $359 per license then that's a reasonably good price. You
could also see if you could get Software Assurance and the plan where
MS/CDW let you spread the entire cost over 3 years - 3 payments based on
the credit of the company, and with SA you get to upgrade to the next
version for free, so you can get 2007 when you're ready.
