sortta nodding along with KJ (who is probably more familiar with 08 than I)
SQL on SBS08 is 'not supported'. This means it is not technically blocked
(AFAIK) but puts the system into a state MS do not support.
The good news is that the 2nd server license can be used as a minimal
install of Windows+Hyper-V (it does not have to be Core only but does need
to only have Hyper-V related support, any other 'role' breaks 1+1 rights)
then both SBS and the full 2nd server license, including SQL, can run in
vm's. The advantage here of '1+1 rights' is somewhat offset by MS' release
of Windows Hyper-V Server (HVS) as a free download, basically I reckon it's
'safer' from a licensing standpoint to use HVS (which actually won't allow
you install 'roles' that would break the licensing) for the host
environment.
Does virtualisation mean you go dutch?

Good afternoon!
Having a discussion with a colleague regarding SBS2008 Premium. He
contends that SQL *MUST BE* installed on a second server. I contend that
it *CAN BE, BUT DOES NOT HAVE TO* be installed on a second server. You
can also simply install it on the SBS box.
Who buys lunch?
Thanks,
Cary
