Will the original domain profile be revived when the computer is rejoined to
the domain Charlie? (I've never had to do this myself)

You need to go to the computer and remove it from the domain, joining it
to a workgroup. Reboot. and then run http://servername/connectcomputer to
rejoin it to the domain. After you're done, you can have users log in to
create a profile and then copy over the old profile information.
