Larry, i ran the BPA and the only 2 critical errors are:
1. Three or more network adapter cards are detected on this server. This is
not a supported configuration and will cause Configure E-mail and Internet
Connection Wizard to fail. Windows SBS 2003 supports only one or two network
adapters.
2. Task Offloading is enabled and should be disabled on Windows Small
Business Server 2003
I have disabled task offloading but there sure are only 2 NICS in this
server so i have no idea where it's finding a third.
Only thing i can think of is that Trend Worry Free 5.0 Advance created some
sort of virtual NIC. However if it did it doesn't show up on the network
settings page on this server.

Hi Pryan:.
The DNS looks ok. Have you run the SBS BPA and fixed what it finds?

Larry/SteveB, thanks for replying.
Hard drivers are all fine.
I did run CEICW on the SBS
the binding order is correct with the Internal NIC before the LAN NIC.
here is the ipconfig

Most problems with long startups can be traced to incorrect DNS settings
on
the SBS, or maybe binding order if you have two nics. Other causes could
be
failing hard drives, bad drivers for some piece of hardware and a few
other
more obscure issues.
For a start, please post the results of the following command:
ipconfig /all > c:\iptest.txt.
And please don't alter stuff in a way that will make it hard to read.
You
can change the name of the server or the domain if you must, but please
be
consistent. Ip ranges are private, or should be, and would not tell
anyone
anything about your network. (that the bad guys couldn't find out if they
persevered)

Recently installed SBS 2003 R2 on a new Dell PE 840.
4Gb RAM / 2.4Ghz Processor
2 NIC SBS Configuration. NIC 1 connects to ISP DSL Modem NIC 2 to
Internal
Gigabit Network.
It takes an age to start up during the windows 2003 startup phase.
After
the
"preparing network connections.." phase it takes 10-15 mins to get past
the
Applying Computer Settings...." phase.
Anyone know what exactly is going on during this phase so i can
troubleshoot
further?
