Re: Event ID 1104 (and others)

It might be worth running the SBS BPA.

Thanks David,

I took a look at this again (I had already been to the page once) and I am
still a little confused. The reasons are:

- Currently the server is behaving (it WILL crap out again but when) so I
do not see any errors in the event log. I did a gpupdate and no errors or
messages in event viewer, it just said it updated successfully. I will
try
this step again once I see the error come back to see what happens.

- As far as the WMI filters, I have only what is default / created during
install etc. This is: 2 X PRE SP2, 2 X POST SP2, and VISTA. I tried
clicking them and I get a 'class not registered' error and it crashes the
management console. In the event viewer the report i get is this:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Management Console
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 10/8/2008
Time: 8:51:06 AM
User: N/A
Computer: ONSITE-SERVER
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Management
Console ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary
registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a
remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following information
is
part of the event: mmc.exe, 5.2.3790.3959, gpoadmincustom.dll,
5.2.3790.145,
00044159.

I will do some reading on the WMIDiag utility and see if that gets me
anywhere, I did follow some troubleshooting previously that used it but
only
to see if there was a connection, nothing further.

Thanks again for your help!
