Re: Connecting Vista to SBS2003 (cannot run nshelp.exe after kb926505)

Yes, thank you very much.

I am running SBS 2003 r2 and have downloaded essentially all the
upgrades.

I am having two probles and they seem interrelated. I am trying to set
up a computer on the network as a client computer as part of the domain.
It is now a workgroup computer. We are able to see the server drives
but not yet install or run network software.

Problem 1- When I enter the url www.server/connect computr, the
following screen comes up:

"When you are prompted to download nshelp.exe, click Run, and then
click Accept if you are prompted for User Account Control.

If you previously tried to connect to the network, but you were not
prompted to download nshelp.exe, check the following and then try again:

If the Internet Explorer Information Bar says that intranet settings
are now turned off by default, follow the prompts to Enable Intranet
Settings.
If you are logged on as a standard user, type the user name and
password for an account on this computer that has administrator
permissions.
If you tried these options already, but you cannot continue past this
page, contact the person who is responsible for your network.

Connect to the network "

Clicking connect brings to run screen to nshelp.exe;

When I try to run it I get the following message:

"make sure that only one network adapter is enabled and that it is
connected to the small business server"

I have one adapter 1GB PCI, (i think) as well as a wireless connection
to the network. I disabled the wireless and made the mentioned changes
to the adapter files to no avail.

2. I have another problem that seems to be corresponding.

I am trying to install Amicus attorney v over on the network. The
install routine calss for the program to be installed on the server and
on clients by running the install program through the server.

When trying to run the install program on the server via the client
it all goes well untill the last when I get a message

"Invalid path name //server/program name/!"

I can see that drive and the path from the client!

I have tried all I know to do including downloading all updates for
SBS server, trying different server names,

The name shows in systm as computername.domainname.local. The only
response I get is by trying to log on wth the compter name only.

The reason these problmes seem similar is the client is umable to run
programs resident on the server.

Thank you again for your help, please let me know what I can try
next.

Thank you for posting here.

The nshelp.dll is located in the %systemroot%\Inetpub\ConnectComputer\
folder. In the case that you install the SBS 2003 on the driver C:, you
can
find it in C:\Inetpub\ConnectComputer\. Then copy the nshelp.dll to
the
%windir%\Downloaded Program Files folder on the client computer. By
default, it is C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\.

According to your description, it seems that it is different from that
described in the original post "Connecting Vista to SBS2003". Could
you
please explain the exact symptom of the issue for our further
investigation? What's your environment? Do you use SBS 2003 server?
With
more detailed problem description and background information, we can
have a
better idea as to the exact issue.

Best regards,
Miles Li
