Hi Guys
Thanks for the response. In the end I just uninstalled Vista
and installed XP and connected in seconds.
We are a small company and can't afford the time messing
around with the server, and risking messing it up for the
other machines, just for an OS which doesn't seem to
bring any business benefits at all.
Maybe when we replace the server we will look at it again.
Thanks for your help

netbios over TCP/IP is almost a sure sign of DNS issues. The system is falling back to broadcasting to find a machine that it should've been able to find via DNS. I have no doubt the solution works, but it is only addressing the symptom, not the cause. I hope you consider looking into your DNS setup and fixing those issues.

i've had problems with vista biz connecting to sbs too. my solution was to
turn OFF TCP/IPv6 in Local Area Connection Properties and to turn ON Enable
NetBIOS over TCP/IP in advanced TCP/IP settings on TCP/IPv4 and everything
is now working. i have found this solution via google.
