Well, I've given up on fixing this problem. The PC in question has
other problems involving the hardware so it will be rebuilt shortly.
Thanks all the same for the useful information posted by Lanwrench.
Just one comment to feed back in general.
I have now seen several mentions of Group Policy and making changes
to it. For some reason Microsoft have elected not to put the Group
Policy Editor on the Administrator menu in SBS Server 2003, although
there is a Group Policy Manager - Not the same thing. I eventually
added my own shortcut to my management desktop, but it took a while
to realise what I needed.
Yes. I suspect it isn't added as a shortcut because it's far too easy for
the inexperienced to blow up default policies.
I seem to remember having less trouble finding the policy editor in
2000 and NT4.
For those following this thread and wanting to know, Group Policy
Editor is found at C:\WINDOWS\system32\gpedit.msc in SBS Server 2003
Have fun :)

Dave
That's the local policy editor. You want Group Policy Management Console -
it's much better. Start | run | gpmc.msc will open it.

Hello Dave,
Thank you for posting here. Also thanks for Lanwench's sharing.
According to your description, I understand that:
On a Windows XP client computer, a user fails to populate the
modification to the profile folder saved on the file server.
If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me
know. Agree with Lanwench that do not log into multiple computers at
the
same time when they have roaming profiles. If a user with roaming
profile logs onto the multiple computers, conflict may occur on the
files in the roaming
profile. This will result in some unexpected behave on the roaming
profile.
To narrow down the issue, please help to collect the following
information for further troubleshooting.
Information needed:
=======================
1. Does this issue happen on a particular client computer? How it
works if you logon to this computer with other user accounts with
the roaming profile?
2. Does this issue happen on a particular user account? How it works
if you
logon to other client computers with that problematic user accounts?
3. Please help to collect MPS report on the SBS server and
problematic client then send it to me at v-mileli@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

4. Please also collect client Userenv log when this issue is
reproduced: - Open the Explorer and go to the following
folder:
%SystemRoot%\Debug\UserMode\. If you can find a file called
userenv.log, please rename it to userenv.old. (Please do not delete
it.) - Click "Start", click "Run", type "regedit"
(without the quotation marks), and then click "OK".
- Find the following key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] - Highlight the Winlogon
key and click Edit -> New -> DWORD Value in the menu bar.
- Name the new value as "UserEnvDebugLevel" (without the
quotation marks) and then double click it and specify the Value data
as 00010002. Please double check that the value name and the data
are correct (the value should be shown as 0x00010002(65538)).
- Reproduce this issue by logging on and then off the
client computer. When this issue happens, please go to
%SystemRoot%\Debug\UserMode\ to get the file: userenv.log and send
it to me. Please also let me know the user name and the exact time
that this problem happens so that I can locate the problem log
accurately. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate
to let
me know.
Best regards,
Miles Li
