Re: Backup failure with logfile

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Jim,

I was being a little dramatic on the UPS. It actually went into a a overload
condition and caused the server to reboot serveral times. The UPS was a non
server unit. I have since replaced it with a APC Smart UPS unit.

I would delete the W2k files. I would also do a cut and paste of those
problem document and setting files to a usb thumb drive. They might
not even be needed.

I think if you go to add/remove and windows components if you do some
minor add remove it runs through com components. There is a vss
troubleshooting article that talks about reinstalling com.

So meltdown means that the lead in the battery became molten or the
wiring in the UPS melted. Are you being dramatic or did the batteries
just swell or fail in some other fashion? UPS batteries generally seem
to last 2-3 years. Any battery older than three years is on borrowed
time and probably should be replaced. Any decent ups should have
easily replaceable batteries which cost a lot less than a new ups.

Hi Jim,

I did run chkdsk that is how I got the server to boot up properly after
the
UPS meltdown. I just remoted into the server and saw Mozypro backup
software
is still running. I talked to the Owner and he stated that he wants to
keep
the Mozypro Internet Backup program going and also use SBS backup.
I wonder if that is contributing to the errors?

Just guessing at a few things. I exclude my backup drive when I run
the backup wizard. Add F to be excluded. The F drive is formated in
NTFS?

Have you booted from a bootable server 2003 cd to the recovery console
to run chkdsk /p on all partitions? If they show errors have you run
chkdsk /r?

Personally I would delete the contents of the W2k folder in client
apps as I have no workstations running that OS.

I would delete those text files but a chkdsk from a bootable cd is
where you need to go.

Hi all,

SBS 2003 std. SP2 / Exchange

I just got a clients server backup from a UPS meltdown. All seems to be
functioning normally except of course for SBS backup. They were using
mozypro Internet backup and switched to the NTbackup to External drives
(2).
I have pasted the log file below. Any ideas on this?
