SBS 2003 Exchange Setup

I inherited a SBS 2003 server without Exchange set up. The client now wants
me to install the Exchange and import the settings of their current POP 3
mail provider.
Will I have any issues installing Exchange after the fact? Will there be a
problem setting up a .com domain from a .local domain?
Any help or guidance would be deeply appreciated.
