I haven't done this before, but will be installing SBS Windows 2003 R2 or
2008 whichever is best suitable for my client, and like to know how he can
VPN into the server off site using the internet?
My question(s) are, does VPN come with SBS 2003 R2/2008, and is it easy to
setup and configure so that he can use it remotely?
Please advise?
Thanks-

Since you haven't done this before (Install SBS or setting up VPN).
Practice will be your friend at home as you can't hurt anyone's
interest.
SBS 2003 R2 would be all you need, it has features that are atimes
under used.
Remote Web Workplace (RWW) is great but with one catch you need to
leave a machine turned on.
I don't know exactly what your needs are but read up in this NG and i
bet all your answers will be found.
I just recently enabled it, and i'm looking at going the Terminal
Server route to allow simplicity.
Things you will need:
1. A DNS record pointing to your server.
2. Certificate issued by the server using a FQDN e.g
https://accesspoint.jobinc.com/remote
3. Firewall ports 4125, 443 open and forwarded to the server.
4. Patience
5. Enjoy after the job is done.
