Outlook Cannot Connect to Exchange after Forklift

This follows on from earlier post today
MSExchangeIS Event ID 1088- Urgent
I sorted this with KB273863, but now users cannot connect to exchange
mailboxes. All exchange services are running, stores mounted. Users can
login and browse server shares, print, etc. When I try to remove and
reconnect to exchange I get 2 "action "could not be completed" messages when
I fill on the server field and check name.
I can see the mailboxes on ESM, but am unable to perform any actions on
them - all is greyed out.
If I can't sort this in an hour or so I will put the old server back and see
if I can recover the new server's mail functionality.
