No worries on the public info. I know some people get nervous...I just wanted to clear the air for others that may come across this thread in future problem serarches.
As far as your test email goes, I received it. All looks well, and yeah, the headers still had google's rdns resolving to smtp.robertsonmfg.com so the rDNS change you requested had not propogated to google's cached version. And because google used the (old) cached lookup and the email wasn't rejected, it doesn't explain why it worked for my aco*** and not your other gmail accounts.
Glad to hear your ISP was willing to change it though. Many won't. Although I stand by my statement that it won't cause problems if the records don't match, it is at least one less issue to deal with.
Anyways, you can send to me, you can send to other people not on gmail....I'm at a loss at this point. The problem does not seem to be your server in any way. Might've just had a temporary outage with your ISP or somesuch....

Email sent again.
Public info.... I'm not a network person by trade (but I did sleep at
a Holiday Inn Express last night). So I don't know what info is safe
to post and what isn't. And on google, I don't know how to delete my
own tread, so better safe then sorry.
I contacted my ISP and they changed my rDNS to mail.robertsonmfg.com.
At last check of mxtoolbox it was still showing
smtp.robertsonmfg.com. I'm guessing it takes some time to propagate
to the servers.

First, let me say that the whole "mycompany.com" thing is silly. (no

Let me spell this out for ANYBODY asking for help who finds this thread in
the future. If you have registered a domain name on the internet and
you've set up an MX record, it is easier for a bot to get your mailserver's
name and IP from DNS servers than it is to spider over a newsgroup. You are
NOT protecting your network from hacking or spam by being coy here. You are
only making it more difficult for us to help you.
Phew! Got that out of my system. No back to the regularly scheduled help
session:
Guy,
I received your test mail and everything in the header looks okay. Your DNS
looks good as well. Regarding the answer to your reverse DNS question, no,
reverse DNS *rarely* matches the A record, so this shouldn't be causing a
problem. As far as I can tell, there is nothing immediate that should be
causing a problem sending email. Two things to check on though:
1) Do you only have one SMTP virtual server?
2) If so, can you try sending a second test mail to my gmail account?
cgaliher (at) gmail (dot) com?
Right now, I suspect it might be a routing issue....we can do some checking
with telnet sessions, but I want to see if I even get a message (spam
filtered or not)

Looking at the mxtoolbox again I noticed something. My SMTP server is
mail.mycompany.com. The reverse DNS check resolves to
smtp.mycompany.com. Could that be causing a problem?
I can't wrap my brain around this anymore as it has been about 3 years
since I set it up. It is working great for everyone but gmail. (to my
knowledge)
