You said wizards are for dummies which I took to mean you would never touch
them. I've been using and installing SBS since its first version (4.0) and
each version has improved considerably on the last to the point with SBS
2003 that we have a terrific product for the small business. This is due in
part to the improvement in the wizard technology so well done by the SBS dev
team. Sure there may be some need to go outside the wizards for some
specific or special functionality after they have been used first, but by
and large for a "normal" setup there isn't much need to do so. Please don't
denigrate those of us who do make use of the wizards when it comes to SBS
land. If your background is more enterprise where everything has to be
configured manually then good luck on your SBS boxes.

But they also aren't the end of all things. How do you set group policies?
Surely not with wizards. How do you set smart contacts and distribution
lists? Certainly not with wizards? Public folder resources? Nup, not
wizards. Extended backup regimes... oh dear, not with the wizard. Complex
internet access/firewall rules... well, not the wizard again.

Wizards are helpful but if that is what you are limiting yourself too then
you are REALLY limiting yourself. They are a convenient starting point for
beginners.

I haven't made any comments before about some of your statements (Russ,
Leythos, and SG have done that very well) Geoff, but now I have to say
something. You are the one who is being the dummy when you state "Wizards
are for dummies" when SBS is involved. The development team did a
tremendous
job on SBS and the wizards they have provided make setting it up and
maintaining it better for all of us except for a dummy who won't use
them.
