I have a similuar situation is the following possiable
I have a client with SBS2003 Standard, no service packs installed on an
older Dell Power Edge 2400 Server with 15 user license.
I will be upgrading to a New Dell Power Edge 2900 and will be installing
SBS2003 Standard R2. The only thing I need to retain is email and contacts
for 4 users. Instead of installing all service packs to bring the current
server up to date then performing a server migration or Jeff’s Swing
Migration, can I just export the clients email and contacts using Exmerge or
export to a PST file on each of the 4 clients workstations. Then setup the
new SBS2003 Standard R2 using the same domain name and users and password,
then re-run the connect computer wizard on each computer, then import the
email and contacts.

Hi Don.
I believe you will find it much easier to use Swing Migration at

Chris,
I am wanting to do the same thing pretty soon. I have an existing SBS2003
server on an old machine and just purchased a new server. I want to
migrate
the SBS2003 to the new server.
Question: how did you end up doing your migration, since it is similar to
what I want to accomplish, and how did it work out?
I see where Brandy suggested just doing a join, then retire the old server
before 14 days, wonder if you followed that line?
Thanks for any advice!

I need to "retire" our current SBS2003 server and migrate everything to
newer
hardware for stability purposes. Was hoping to get some recommendations
on
the easiest way to handle this for the shortest downtime and fewest
client
side changes. That is, I hope that nothing would need to be done on the
clients and come Monday morning after a weekend change, they wouldn't
even
know the difference. Was thinking of changing the new server's name after
the
migration routine to match the old server. Wanted to also reuse client
licenses and verify this can be done and how to transfer them.
Appreciate
some guidance here before starting the project. The current box is
SBS2003
Premium upgraded from SBS2000 a year ago and the new server will be clean
installed SBS2003 Premium wSP1 slipstreamed.
