Thanks for your reply.
Larry, it would be nice to be able to use Device CALS but all of my users
are logging on from different locations... so that's why I'm using User
CALs....
And, SuperGumby, yeah those "users" I was referring to are "service
accounts" that I created. For example, one for MS SQL, and a couple of more
for my Business applications.
My main concern was to know what would happen when I reach the 75 user
limit? Will my SBS stay functional for a while so I'll have to upgrade?
Also, any ideas when the new SBS 2008 is coming out? Actually, I think in my
case it would be the "medium" version which I think is called Essentials?
What is the user limit on that one?
Thanks again!

However, 'service accounts' do not consume CALS. I'm pretty sure R is.
referring to userID's for service accounts, not 'users'.
eg. Backup Exec can be told to run as admin but it is preferred that a
'service account', a unique UserID, is created for BE's use. No 'person'
signs on using this account and even in the case where multiple devices
communicate across the LAN (you might have the BE agent on, say, your LOB
Application Server) it still does not consume a CAL, even though it is
authenticated.
The way I think of it is as part of 'Administration does not consume a CAL'.

Hi Rgarcia:
If the user authenticates on the SBS server he/she needs a CAL.
Any chance that some of these use the same device? Device CALs are
intended to allow multiple users on one device.

Hi,
We have a SBS 2003 Premium with 75 licenses. And, our company currently
has
about 65 employees and we'll be adding a few more soon. We only have
about 5
employees working at the HQ and the rest work at the customer's
facilities.
The onsite employees never come to the HQ really... they only use OWA.
Also, I have created other "users" to run some of our business
applications... I didn't create exchange mailboxes for them but I was
wondering if these "users" take up some of these licenses? How is this 75
user limit calculated?
