Scheduled Backup Didn't Launch

We're in the initial stages of planning a Swing Migration from a
SBS2K3 server (homebuilt) that has been showing signs of decrepitude
and are trying to get some extra backups in-place.
To this end, I modified the SBS Backup schedule to skip Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturdays;
Then, I created a manually scheduled NTBackup to a different eSATA
drive (much faster backups BTW) and set the schedule for Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturdays.
Come Saturday, the backup didn't launch at the scheduled time. I
checked the scheduled tasks and the task showed up properly. The
system clock is correct and the launch timing was setup properly and
showed up as recurring jobs in the NTBACKUP Schedule.
OK, if the Task Scheduler was broken, it seems reasonable to me that
the SBS Backup would fail to launch as well -- but it doesn't! The
SBS Backup runs on schedule.
I'm probably missing something rather obvious but I've no idea what it
might be. I did set it up to run under my user account (admin group)
but I stayed logged off during the launch window. I've done this
before on other sites and it's worked well.
Any ideas?
Thanks...
