while researching for a project, i went back to a FTP program i used in the past.
Check out Serv-U ftp http://www.serv-u.com/
The newest version has a nice web gui file transfer. (kind of client less for the end user)

Not free, but the web interface was simple to use for end users.
Again, Filezilla would work fine....we use it for projects also, just thought you might want to look at serv-u
But, IMHO...keep this box in a DMZ...

This is the reason to choose FTP, it's for client and other employees but not to company, but same group (it's difficult to explain).
You tell me i can access Sharepoint 2.0 and 3.0 with port 444 or SSL, but this for Sharepoint Portal, not for sharepoint services (this is SBS standard R2 only with exchange and SPS 2.0)??
