Defragging the Exchange Database has been known to cause lots of issues
2.75 GB of RAM is a pretty odd amount How many DIMM slots in your server?
What is in each one?
Secondly, what is the size of your page file?
Finally, what is the size of your Priv1.edb?

Hello again,
We are planning on following (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328804) in
order to help with the slow performance issues we see with our Exchange
server. It is affecting users mailboxes. Basically slow and lots of RPC
errors.
We have done the basic troubleshooting, added memory, ran the online defrag
of the store, hard drive defrags, increased virtual memory.
This is a small company with 1 Exchange 2003 server running on SBS 2003, we
also have BES running on same server, we have looked into seeing if this may
be a cause, but the server in the past ran fine with BES running on it, just
in the last month or 2 it has really slowed in performance.
Also, the store.exe memory usage is 638,428 KB that we see in the task
manager. Is this normal?
We feel that running a full defrag on the store while it is dismounted will
help with our performance issues. However, we have read about many people
having problems re-mounting the store back after the defrag. How should we
do this?
We wanted to practice doing this defrag on another box, before we did this
on the production server. So this is what we did...
We have installed the same SBS version on a separate box, copied the
priv1.edb file and stm file to the same location as our production exchange
folder has. Then we went into System Manager and you point Exchange to that
Database file and select it. Then we right clicked the message store and
selected mount.
We basically are trying to have a clean store defrag on the production
server without too many problems that cant be resolved.
Also, we would like to test the Exchange Backup file (.bkf) to verify that
it is not corrupted, or that we can use it, in case we cannot remount the
store.exe
Please help, give us some advice.
Thanks again
Mike
